RE-fresh-ING

California is neat. SoCal as it is referred to in these parts (Huntington Beach, CA and basically LA and its surroundings) is a unique place. It truly does represent a different culture within the U.S. much like many other regions of country. But seriously, everything here is just so neat. Roads are clean. People have their routines (breakfast of something organic or perhaps Jamba Juice, a nice run along the pacific or maybe catch a surf, etc.) and everything seems to flow very nice. If you don't have a membership at the local gym, you are missing out. And, if you don't drive a Lexus, Mercedes, Range Rover, Maserati, or Bentley, you are in the minority.

Okay, I might be exaggerating a little, but this is my first time to SoCal and I've really enjoyed it, but I can't help but wonder if everything is really as "together" as it looks. People flock to California from all over the U.S. and all over the world. When I was in Lithuania, everyone wanted to move to Cal-E-forn-Ya. And, with this beautiful blue sky, no humidity, gorgeous January 8 day, I am beginning to understand why.

But, when the appeal of the weather and beauty wears off (if it ever does), what's left? Now, I am by no means bashing people for moving here...I seriously might some day (Westmont? Pepperdine? Azusa?) ...but I am questioning the life that many seem to be seeking. Will they ever find it? Will the happiness ever be completely fulfilling?

The thing is that I think this so-called life is what we all are seeking in a way. This kind of relates to my last post. We like wholeness, beauty, freshness, completeness, perfection, order. So does God, I think. And, I'm pretty sure he's trying to offer that to us. That very well might be offered through a day spent on one of the beautiful Pacific Ocean Beaches between Newport and Laguna Beach (what I did yesterday), or it may be that and so much more.
I think there's more.

I've been refreshed by being here. And, I've been asking questions, as you can see.

I want to keep seeking the "more" that I believe exists.
