11 days ago I was helping to build those (above). Specifically the pieces of metal running vertically about every 5 feet. It was scintillating.
I ended my time in the factory 11 days ago, and this morning I'm just looking back a bit. I was talking to my Grandparents yesterday and my Grandma said that it's pretty evident that God had a plan in placing me in that factory. I'm not sure how all that works with God putting us places and stuff, but I am sure that he can and will use us wherever we are...if we are willing.
That's not to say that amazing things will happen. A friend told me yesterday that she spent a whole summer working with youth and can maybe pinpoint one girl in which she has seen marked change.
My dad recently said that it's all about being faithful and obedient. It's not our job to change lives, but it is absolutely our job to be obedient to God. If you don't feel God leading you in some specific manner, then just think about his commandment to love your neighbor. Be creative, and figure out a way to do this. God will use your obedient heart, no doubt.
So, on my last day of work I got Brian's phone number. He invited me to come see his son wrestle this winter. (He also promised to give me his famous yet simple recipe for biscuits and gravy.) I asked Brian what one lesson he would pass on to his three boys if he could. He said he would pass on a strong faith in God, something he's only merely learning about recently. I was floored by that answer. This is simply one of many comments Brian made that blessed me. I can't wait to see Brian again. He's taught me a lot and I'm thankful for the 6 weeks I had of working with him.
Brice is still struggling. The divorce and custody are in process, but Brice is down and out. All I really feel I can do is pray for the man and his family. I feel helpless so that's what I'll try to do.
6 weeks at a factory. That's it. I went to make money. More importantly, unique friendships were formed and I was blessed through it. I hope others were as well.

Kyle, I love your family. I think it is awesome that you have conversations with your grandparents about God's will. Soak it up cause you're lucky.
