Transporting Oneself in Klaipeda Lithuania

Today we will teach you how to get from one place to another when you just don't feel like walking. You see, we Lithuanians walk almost EVERYWHERE especially if it is under a 45 minute walk. That is why we are skinny and toned unlike many of those crazy Americans who drive what would be a 2 minute walk. And they complain about gas prices that are still over half as cheap as ours. But, back to the point. We take either a BUS, MINIBUS, TAXI, or BIKE to get around Klaipeda. I choose the main bus most times because it costs 0,40 litas for a student and you can take bus 3 or 14 to LCC (my school). You get onto the bus with your ticket or some old lady will unethically offer you hers (I don't take them, don't worry) and you get on. If you have a ticket already purchased (this is cheaper) you just punch it in this little spiked puncher. Or you go buy one from the bus driver who takes one or two hands off the wheel to give you your ticket and change. Scary! Then you punch that ticket. The thing is you would really never HAVE to punch your ticket and you could hypothetically use it day after day. If the ticket police comes on then you have two options: 1.) Pay a 20 lita fine or 2.) Act like an American who speaks no Lithuanian and say you had no idea and proceed to the bus driver to buy a ticket. I have been a man of integrity in my bus goings but I doubt that everyone proceeds this way in their travels. The last obstacle is not falling over as the bus stops. This is sad because I consider myself a decent athlete and as soon as the bus jolts forward I'm throwing my hands up in search of something that will keep my from crashing into a 84 year old lady who holds on to no supportive apparatus and is not even phased by the moving of the bus. Maybe I'll catch on to this phenomenon of not falling down by day 131. You only need to be able to say "Prasom!" to someone who is in your way and they will move. And you need good body language in communicating to bus driver what kind of ticket you need. All that to say, buses are fun and I use them very efficiently. Peace out. This is a pic of a bus, a rather old bus, but a bus nonetheless! Have a nice day in your plush car as you drive around the good ole USA!

Who's "we" in "we are going to teach"? I hope you're not so lonely you're making up invisible friends. I can be your friend.
